Virtual group therapy for adults in Ontario
Anger Management and Emotional Regulation Therapy Group
A structured six-week virtual psychotherapy group to help you understand your anger, recognize patterns earlier, and respond in healthier ways.
Anger can be useful. It can tell you when something feels unfair, when a boundary has been crossed, or when something important to you feels threatening.
The problem is when anger becomes difficult to manage and starts affecting your relationships, work, communication, or the way you feel about yourself.
Our 6-week Anger Management and Emotional Regulation Therapy Group is designed to help you understand what happens before, during, and after anger so you can recognize your patterns earlier and respond in healthier ways.
Rather than simply teaching you to “calm down,” the group is designed to help you understand where your anger comes from, what triggers it, how it builds, and what you can do differently.
Through anger management group therapy, you will have opportunities to learn coping skills, explore your reactions, and practice strategies for managing difficult emotions in a more positive and constructive way.
Who is this group for?
Support for when anger is taking up too much space
Anger can become problematic when it negatively affects other people, interferes with work or school, affects your emotional well-being, or becomes disproportionate in intensity.
This group may be a good fit if you:
- Feel like your anger escalates faster than you would like
- Frequently feel irritated, frustrated, resentful, or on edge
- Experience angry outbursts or other anger issues that are becoming difficult to manage
- Raise your voice, argue, lash out, become sarcastic, blame others, or say things you later regret
- Shut down, avoid conversations, withdraw, or become passive-aggressive when angry
- Notice that anger is affecting your life and relationships, including home and at work
- Have difficulty managing conflict without becoming overwhelmed
- Feel misunderstood, disrespected, criticized, rejected, or treated unfairly and find it difficult to move past it
- Recognize that certain situations, people, environments, or stressors repeatedly trigger you
- Want to develop stronger communication skills and express yourself without becoming aggressive
- Understand intellectually that you should respond differently but struggle to do so in the moment
- Want to learn coping skills and practical techniques to manage anger before it reaches the point of an outburst
- Want support with stress management and learning how to better manage your emotions
- Have been court-mandated to complete an anger management class or therapeutic anger management program
What will you get from the group?
Practical support for understanding and managing anger

Over the six weeks, this group therapy program will give you opportunities to:
- Better understand your anger and what may be underneath it
- Identify personal triggers and early warning signs
- Explore patterns that may contribute to anger
- Develop essential coping skills and practical emotional regulation strategies
- Explore mindfulness and other approaches that may help create space between an emotion and your response
- Practice healthier and more constructive ways of navigating conflict
- Develop effective communication skills and explore assertive communication without aggression
- Learn ways to challenge unhelpful thought patterns using principles informed by cognitive behavioural therapy
- Explore skills and strategies that may help you regulate your emotions
- Build a personalized anger management plan to use after the group
The focus is on increasing awareness, practicing evidence-based strategies, and developing skills for managing anger that you can continue working on outside of therapy sessions.
More than anger management
A place to explore what is underneath the reaction

This is not simply a class about suppressing anger. The anger management therapy group provides a supportive space to explore the thoughts, emotions, experiences, and behaviours that may contribute to how anger shows up in your life.
Participating alongside a group of peers can also provide opportunities to hear different perspectives, reflect on shared experiences, and receive support and encouragement while practicing new skills.
Our goal is to provide a safe and inclusive space where participants can develop greater awareness, gain valuable insights, and work toward responding to anger in healthier ways.
What we cover over the 6 weeks
A structured path through understanding, practice, and planning ahead
