About Delia Petrescu
Registered Psychotherapist
Welcome to my page. I would like to tell you a little about my journey so far in this field. I’ve always had a passion for helping others. Throughout my life I was the person that most of my friends and acquaintances sought out my attentive listening and validating stance. It was my genuine curiosity and compassion that led me towards the path of helping others professionally.
As far as my education goes, I graduated from York University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and started working as a psychometrist in the assessments field, assisting with psychoeducational for learning difficulties, and psychological and neuropsychological assessments for brain injuries.
In 2019, I finally decided to pursue my career further and switch from assessments into treatments and that’s when I enrolled in the Yorkville University Masters of Counselling Psychology degree, seeking to learn more about lending a helping hand to those in need. I’ve been registered as a psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists (CRPO) since 2021.
I continue to be intrigued about the individualistic and resilient nature that we all have. In other words, I know that no two individuals are experiencing the same thing even if they are going through similar or identical situations. This is why I can promise you that I will always listen with curiosity and interest, guiding you into figuring out your strengths and where the problems and difficulties in your life started so we can figure out where to start making changes.
It’s completely natural to encounter challenging periods in life, filled with highs and lows. The real struggle begins when we find ourselves unable to escape a negative state of mind or a difficult situation, be it anxiety, depression, or relationship issues.
Together, we will work on developing coping mechanisms that work for you. I will acknowledge and appreciate your strengths, as well as understand your challenges.
My ultimate aim is to guide you in discovering your path towards personal growth and healing.
What's unique about my therapy sessions?
Being real, straightforward and down-to-earth. I believe in a sincere and straightforward collaboration where we work together. We will co-create a safe space for you to explore, grow, and figure out your next steps. I make sure to give you the space to feel heard and help you learn more about you.
Curious about the methods I use?
I use a combination of evidence-based strategies, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and mindfulness techniques, to name a few. My goal is to customize our sessions to fit your needs.
Feeling uncertain about what you want from therapy?
That’s alright. In our initial session, we’ll discuss and identify what you’re aiming to change or achieve. As we progress, I’ll continually check-in, ensuring we’re progressing towards your goals. Every individual’s journey is different, and my approach focuses on your unique narrative and needs. I strive to equip you with the tools and insights to manage whatever life presents to you.
Why should you connect with me?
Because our time together is solely about YOU. It’s a space for your questions, your discoveries, and most importantly, your personal growth. I’m here to help you reveal your strengths and understand yourself better.
Ready to get started?
Let’s see if we make a good team.
It’s easy to get started with me. I return calls and emails within a few hours. Our first consultation will be a chance for me to listen and understand all that is bothering you.
Feel free to drop me a line for a free consult.
