About Me

Hi there,

I’m Delia. Welcome to my page.

Here’s a little bit about the concerns I can help with:

My main goal is to help adults who feel stressed, overwhelmed, and struggling to adapt to life’s challenges.

My focus is also on helping women through life crises and pivotal transitions, such as fertility issues, pregnancy loss, decision-making difficulties, relationship problems, and perinatal and postpartum difficulties.

I understand that infertility brings with it grief, loss, and frustration. Processing these complex emotions is an essential part of healing. I work with individuals and couples to help them grieve the loss of a ‘regular pregnancy’. Many emotions come with this and being able to talk about them and work through them together will be important as you go through this difficult period in your life.

In addition, I work with individual adults with a focus on the following:

  • Anxiety and depression
  • Relationship and attachment issues
  • Self-criticism and self-esteem
  • Stress and burnout
  • Life transitions
  • Grief and loss

I am here to facilitate your shift towards deeper self-awareness, and I will be present with you as you process a range of emotions and learn practical strategies to manage them. There is no greater reward for me than seeing clients discover resilience they didn’t know was within them.

Here’s a little bit about my approach to therapy:

My approach to therapy is collaborative and relational. I keep it real, honest, and straightforward in the sessions. I take an active and supportive stance to create a comfortable environment for self-exploration and self-growth.

I also integrate evidence-based approaches (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Solution-focused and mindfulness-based therapies) to meet your needs and to promote optimal functioning.

Making goals for therapy can be hard as you might not be sure what things need to change. If that’s the case, we’ll narrow it down together as we talk through what’s been going on for you in our first session. We will focus on creating a plan to overcome your life’s challenges.

Throughout our time together, I will constantly ask for your feedback and check with you on the progress of the goals we make.

I strive to help my clients connect to themselves and others and recognize and utilize their strengths to help them achieve their full potential. Our experiences are a combination of our conditioning and perceptions. And our perceptions can lead us to be defeated. And as the philosopher Soren Kierkegaard said: “Life must be understood backward. But it must be lived forward.” We will explore past experiences so you can find ways to live better now and in the future.

I want to teach you the art of being, of being in the present and not living mainly in the past or constantly worrying about the future.

Here’s a little bit about my education and credentials:

I have a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from York University and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. I am a Registered Psychotherapist at the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). I am a member of the Canadian Counseling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) and the Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals (OAMHP).

I am also a member of the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society (CFAS) and have completed post-graduate training in fertility counseling. For over 7 years, I have worked as a psychometrist and, for the last 3 years, as a mental health counselor helping adult clients overcome stress, anxiety, depression, adjustment difficulties, trauma, and chronic pain.

It wasn’t until I was faced with my own fertility journey that I decided to focus my career on reproductive health.

Here’s a little bit about me personally:

Outside the therapeutic world, I enjoy hiking, baking muffins, painting and reading thriller novels.

Let’s connect to find out if we are a good fit.
